Postdoctoral Research Fellow (24 months of duration)

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield invites applications to undertake research on high performance and high reliability SiC/GaN-based power electronics converters for aerospace applications.

The project requires in-depth knowledge of power electronics devices, converters, and their applications, and extensive use of modelling and simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink together with real-time control, data acquisition and prototyping platforms. In addition, development of novel health monitoring concepts for SiC/GaN power devices as well as hardware design, construction and testing for integrated condition monitoring, lifetime estimation and fault detection will also be required, using facilities available within the EMD group and project partners.

Applicants should possess a PhD (or working towards) in power electronics and control of electrical drives. In addition, a strong scientific background in device modelling and condition monitoring is essential.
